Sensara provides lifestyle monitoring solutions for community-dwelling elderly and their family. With help of sensors installed in the house and a smartphone app, family members of elderly who are still vital but ‘getting older’ can see how their parent is doing.

I was closely involved with the development of the first products of the company and was involved with expressions towards the user, such as the branding and design of the mobile apps.

With varying degrees of detail, the app communicates both short-term alerts and long term trends and sends notifications to relatives whenever deviant behaviour is detected.

The challenge was in dealing with matters of privacy, providing a comfortable amount of detail – for both the elder as well as the family member and evoking the right amount of reassurance in the user.
